A postpartum doula focuses on the needs of the new mother as well as the newborn and immediate family.  She is there to nurture the mother by offering practical assistance as well as emotional support, enabling her to recover faster and feel more confident in meeting the challenges a new baby brings.  A postpartum doula is a mentor who answers your questions and provides much needed assurance in a gentle, non-judgmental way, allowing you to develop your own unique parenting style.

Services Provided:

Each woman and her family have different needs that may change from day to day.  It is important that communication remain open. Services that are often provided include:

  • Non-judgmental breastfeeding support
  • Education of infant care including soothing and comforting skills
  • Support for emotional and physical recovery after childbirth
  • Foster family bonding
  • Assist in light household duties/ Meal preparation
  • Baby wearing techniques and equipment help
  • Phone and email contact during contracted weeks
  • Spending time with baby so family can rest
  • Sleep training guidance
  • Sibling care as needed
